Does the tea powder need to be sifted beforehand?

No sifting required. If clumping occurs during use, a quick sift before adding the powder will resolve it.

What type of matcha works best?

Any matcha powder works — from everyday culinary grade to ceremonial grade. That said, the Cha Maker was calibrated around our ceremonial-grade matcha, so the higher the quality of powder, the more pronounced the difference in flavor and foam will be.

Can I use it with powders or drinks other than matcha, hojicha, chocolate, or milk?

The Cha Maker works well with coffee, whey protein, and other dairy-based beverages — giving the drinks a smoother, more evenly emulsified texture. Please do not use with alcoholic beverages.

How does it compare to a traditional chasen?

A traditional chasen requires developed technique, calibrated water temperature, and consistent wrist motion to produce quality foam — variables that differ from person to person and cup to cup. The Cha Maker replicates that result automatically: precise heat, dynamic three-phase whisking, and the same output every time — without technique, training, or guesswork.

What does the ceramic bowl require in terms of care?

  • Clean directly after every use. Please make sure the bottom of the bowl and the base is dry, especially the connector area, prior to use.
  • The bowl is dishwasher safe. The base unit, if stained, should be wiped clean with a cloth only — do not submerge or place in a dishwasher.
  • Note that the heating pad at the base of the bowl and the base unit will be hot after use — allow both to cool fully before handling or cleaning.

What is the throughput at full capacity?

The Matcha mode completes one cup in 30 seconds, allowing approximately 90 servings per hour per unit. For higher-volume operations, multiple Cha Makers can be run simultaneously to scale throughput without compromising quality or consistency.
